About The Author
Summer Joy Woods was born in North Philadelphia on June 21, 1990 where she resides now. Summer "came out closet" at the age of 15 years old, and lived a young, wild, adventurous, carefree lesbian lifestyle until the age of 25. For ten years Summer thought she was "free" until she truly experienced the love of Christ for herself. Her spiritual journey started in 2014, where she was introduced to a new church, "Ebenezer Lamplighters Ministry" by her now ex-girlfriend. Perfect example of how God uses everything for your good. This small South Philadelphia church out loved any big church Summer ever visited before, here Summer experienced an intimacy with Christ in an intriguing way, that left her reaching for more. She felt her relationship with God grow, and the more it grew, the more Summer's desire to please God grew. Summer started to become extremely uncomfortable sitting next to her girlfriend while in church and she knew God was calling her out of the lesbian lifestyle, but she did not want to believe it and tried to ignore it.
Until October 2015, at a Women's Conference, Summer had an encounter with God, like she never did before, and she knew it was now or never. It was in that moment Summer surrendered her life and her sexuality to God, and asked God to show her the way, because she knew she could not do it on her own strength. Summer had to put all her faith and trust in God as she walked in her deliverance from homosexuality. It was not as easy journey for her, but she would not change a thing. For the first time in Summer's life she had to completely rely on God for strength, peace and a sound mind. Summer found true freedom, love and boldness during her new walked with Christ and she want to share her journey with the world, in hopes of it setting someone else free and planting small seeds.
Summer Joy is currently a member of Ebenezer Lamplighters Ministry, where she serves as a one of the leaders of the Children's Ministry, one of the Women's Conference coordinators, Sunday school teachers and Deacon in Training.
Summer is a spoken word artist and loves ministering to people with this gift of poetry.
God has placed in her heart to start a ministry called "Love God Boldly Together" where believers and nonbelievers can have a safe space to talk and discuss the hard and uncomfortable topics like sexuality, struggles in singleness/marriage and to help breakthrough those barriers while patiently wait on Gods best for us and the call on our life.
WELCOME TO LOVE GOD BOLDLY TOGETHER
This goal of this ministry is to have those hard and transparent conversations that we are normally too afraid to have in church, due to the fear or anxiety of being judged and condemned. We will discuss a wide range of topics like sexuality, sexual sin, pornography and masturbation, drug/alcohol addiction, relationship abuse (spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally), mental health, teen pregnancy, dating, courtship, singleness, marriage, infertility, purity, virginity, celibacy, abstinence etc.
Summer Joy wants to create a safe space where we can have adult, mature, and respectful conversations and discussions, form accountability partners, and truly worship and spread the LOVE and GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST our LORD and SAVIOUR.
There are so many people who feel lost/trapped and are struggling in their sin and feel they are all alone. But you are never truly alone because God is with you and other people are going through the same thing.
So, let us talk it out and Love God Boldly Together!
